Senior Finance Manager – Ecommerce
$140,000 - $160,000
This business is already successful. Profitable, scaling, and well past the early chaos stage. What it doesn't yet have is a strong, in-house finance leader who truly understands how a modern ecommerce engine works.
This is a newly created role within a fast-growing ecommerce brand with multiple revenue streams. Finance has been handled externally until now. The next step is bringing that capability in-house and having someone sit close to the founders, connect the dots, and make the numbers genuinely useful.
This is not a CFO role and it's not a corporate finance position. It's a hands-on senior finance role for someone who understands ecommerce economics and wants to be close to the action.
What you'll be doing
* Own day-to-day finance across the ecommerce business, working directly with the founders and senior leaders.
* Run daily, weekly, and monthly reporting that gives real clarity on performance, not just historical numbers.
* Own the P&L, cash flow, and forecasting, with a strong focus on how marketing spend converts into revenue and profit.
* Work closely with marketing to analyse CAC, nCAC, MER, contribution margin, and payback periods, and help guide better commercial decisions.
* Build and maintain financial models for campaigns, promotions, and growth initiatives, pressure-testing assumptions before money is spent.
* Improve financial processes and reporting, gradually bringing more capability in-house while still working with external accountants where needed.
* Spot inefficiencies, margin leakage, and cash flow risks early and act on them.
* On the tools. This role requires someone comfortable rolling up their sleeves while also thinking a step ahead.
What we're looking for
* Strong experience in ecommerce or digital-first consumer businesses is essential. You need to understand how paid media, growth spend, and performance metrics actually work in practice.
* Proven experience owning or heavily influencing a P&L in a fast-moving environment.
* A clear understanding of CAC, MER, and contribution margin, and how those metrics flow through to cash, inventory, and profitability.
* Someone who has operated as the most senior finance person in a business, or very close to it, even if the title wasn't Head of Finance.
* Comfortable working in founder-led environments where things move quickly and priorities can shift.
* Hands-on by nature. You're happy building, fixing, analysing, and explaining, not just reviewing.
* A clear communicator who can explain complex financial concepts in plain English without overcomplicating things.
What this role is and isn't
This is a senior finance role with real influence, but it's not a big-team, highly layered corporate setup.
* You won't be sitting in a corner office. You'll be embedded in the business.
* You won't be blocked from decisions, but you also won't be expected to slow the business down unnecessarily.
* It's a role for someone who wants ownership, visibility, and impact rather than hierarchy and polish.
Why this role is interesting
* You'll be the first true in-house finance hire in a business that's already working at scale.
* You'll have direct access to founders and real influence over how the business grows.
* You'll shape how finance operates moving forward, rather than inheriting a rigid structure.
* You'll be part of a commercially driven, ambitious team that values speed, clarity, and common sense.
