About the role:
Based in the operations team, you will be the core driver of daily service delivery. You'll lead a team of four Allocators to ensure the efficient allocation of our busy fleet, overseeing the daily activities of the high‑paced operations team.
This hands‑on role is perfect for a natural problem‑solver, with strong communication skills and a customer‑first mindset. You will be responsible for providing essential guidance and support to front‑line staff, ensuring safety standards are met, and resolving operational issues proactively.
Duties and responsibilities
Fleet Allocation & Routing
* Master Scheduling and Dispatch: Assign daily jobs for drivers and vehicles. Planning and managing transport operations to meet safety and delivery goals.
* Route Planning and Optimisation: Optimise routes and schedules to improve efficiency, productivity, and safety. Maximise daily completion of services and ensure timely deliveries.
* Communication and Coordination: Liaise with drivers and internal departments to ensure smooth operations. Communicating with drivers and providing clear instructions.
Performance & Compliance
* Real‑time Monitoring: Oversee service delivery in real time, ensuring route completion and compliance with break times. Tracking driver attendance, fatigue, and other statuses.
* End‑of‑Day Debriefs: Conduct end‑of‑day debriefs to review timelines, breaks and service performance. Monitor KPIs and productivity goals.
* Reporting and Analysis: Generate and review operational reports for internal and external stakeholders. Strong administrative and reporting capabilities.
* Driver Development: Oversee driver inductions and training programmes. Provide guidance and support to front‑line staff.
* Team Support and Management: Assist the Operations Manager, supervise the team, provide coaching and work instructions to help them achieve goals.
* Incident Management: Assist in incident management, download footage and conduct follow‑ups. Resolve issues that arise during operations.
Operational Excellence
* Proactive Problem‑Solving: Identify and resolve operational issues proactively. Solution‑oriented with strong problem‑solving skills.
* Vehicle Maintenance and Repair: Organise and track vehicle repairs and maintenance with outside vendors.
* Continuous Improvement: Analyse dispatch performance metrics to identify areas for improvement. Optimise delivery schedules and improve efficiency and customer satisfaction.
What You Bring
* Proven Leadership: Minimum of 3 years of proven leadership or supervisory experience in a fast‑paced operations, logistics, dispatch, transport coordinator or fleet management environment.
* Operational Expertise: Strong understanding of service scheduling and dispatch, ability to prioritise and manage time effectively. Solution‑oriented problem‑solver.
* Communication & Focus: Excellent communication skills and a customer‑first mindset. High attention to detail with solid administrative and reporting capabilities.
* Industry Experience: Experience in Resource Recovery or Environmental Services industry is highly regarded.
