Job Title: Mental Health Recovery Specialist
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and resourceful Community Mental Health Practitioner for a permanent, part-time opportunity in the Townsville area. As a Mental Health Recovery Specialist, you will work collaboratively with clients, families, and carers to support service users in their recovery journey. You will engage with clients using techniques such as brief intervention, motivational interviewing, and coaching, and develop group work programs to build skills and focus on recovery.
Key Responsibilities
- Purposefully engage with clients using various techniques
- Plan and develop group work programs
- Support family and carer roles through understanding concerns and providing information, education, and referrals
- Make linkages and build relationships and referral pathways
- Contribute to day-to-day operations through undertaking housekeeping duties
What We're Looking For
- Tertiary qualifications in Mental Health, Peer Work, Psychology, Social Work, or other health-related fields
- Current First Aid and CPR certifications
- Proven experience in Youth Work, Community Services, Mental Health, Disability, Social Welfare, Housing, or Healthcare sectors
- Experience in assessing need and working collaboratively to plan goal-focused recovery
- Skills and experience in advocacy, collaboration, facilitation, evaluation, and problem-solving

About the Service
The Youth Residential Rehabilitation Service supports young people between 16 and 21 who are recovering from a disability associated with a psychiatric condition. The service provides a safe, home-like therapeutic environment and intensive individual and group-based support to promote resilience, interpersonal skills, and social connections.
