Launch your career with Bendigo Bank's Major Client Group (MCG) division. We’re seeking a highly motivated Associate to play a pivotal supporting role as part of the experienced Portfolio Funding team within the MCG division, which also has teams that specialise in healthcare, corporate banking and loan markets.
The Portfolio Funding team manages bespoke investments in client debt portfolios (e.g., securitisation warehouses). Our clients include mid-to-large non-bank financial institutions, other mid-sized banks, and digital banks across residential, commercial and consumer lending. To succeed in this role, you will need a blend of analytical, relationship-building, and financial skills. This role provides opportunities to develop expertise in securitisation and offers career advancement potential within MCG.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough risk assessments of loan portfolios and suggest mitigation strategies to support the team’s success.
- Act as the primary internal contact for program management and external stakeholders, building and maintaining key relationships.
- Assist with identifying and securing new business opportunities to support team growth.
- Review portfolio data, identify trends, and provide insights to improve risk profiles and customer value.
- Ensure all activities align with bank policies, procedures, and risk appetite.
What you’ll bring to the role
To succeed in this role, you will have:
- A tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, law, or management.
- Experience in credit writing within business or corporate banking is highly desirable.
We would also love you to demonstrate:
- Solid analytical skills for conducting in-depth risk assessments, analysing portfolio data, and identifying trends. Experience with financial modelling would be a significant advantage.
- Excellent communication and relationship management skills to interact effectively with internal stakeholders and external partners.
- A solid understanding of finance, particularly lending, securitisation, and risk management. Knowledge of asset classes (residential, commercial, consumer) would be beneficial.
- Problem-solving skills to identify and resolve risk issues proactively in a risk-focused role.
- Proactive, organised approach with strong time management for managing multiple tasks and projects.
