Your Prospect
- The Psychologist – Senior (Prison Mental Health) provides high level clinical services and leadership within the multidisciplinary Prison Mental Health Services (PMHS) team. The role is responsible for forensic mental health care through timely and responsive service provision required to meet the objectives of the PMHS. Including delivering high level clinical and forensic psychology services to adult patients of the PMHS, providing professional leadership, consultation, supervision and clinical input utilising a high level of knowledge and expertise in the field of forensic mental health, contributing to the training of staff, skill development and the development and review of training, research, policy and clinical practice guidelines relevant to the provision of psychological assessment and therapeutic interventions.
What we're looking for
- Demonstrated high level clinical knowledge, psychological assessment and intervention skills including an understanding of best practice methods in the forensic mental health field and an ability to independently deliver clinical services in challenging environments.
- Demonstrated ability to support a model of service delivery that responds to the triage, assessment, treatment and care of persons in adult custodial facilities in Queensland.
- Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills including the ability to develop positive working relationships with consumers and carers, Queensland Health stakeholders, Queensland Corrective Services, other government and non-government organisations, academic staff and students.
- Demonstrated knowledge and skills to contribute to formal research and service development and develop the knowledge base of the service through clinical practice supervision and education and training.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mandatory possession of a qualification from a registered tertiary institution as a Psychologist and Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency with a current annual practicing certificate is essential.
- Appointment to this position requires proof of qualification and if applicable registration or membership with the appropriate registration authority or association. Certified copies of the required information must be provided to the appropriate supervisor/manager, prior to the commencement of clinical duties.
- The possession of an Australian Psychological Society (APS) accredited postgraduate qualification in clinical or forensic psychology and/or an endorsement in clinical or forensic psychology would be highly regarded.
- For Psychology appointments, Supervisor Training and Approval Program (STAP) training requirements are the responsibility of the applicant.
- Appointment or have the ability to readily obtain appointment as an Authorised Mental Health Practitioner under the Mental Health Act 2016.
- Medication endorsement will be highly regarded.
- Corrective Services Criminal History Checks: Persons engaged in the Offender Health Services Branch or providing health services in correctional facilities are relevant persons under the Corrective Services Act 2006. Division 2 of the Corrective Services Act requires all relevant persons to undergo a Corrective Services criminal history check to assess their suitability to undertake work in a QCS facility.

Our offer
You will receive a competitive remuneration package value up to $157,360 p.a., comprising salary between $128,169 - $137,918 p.a., employer contribution to superannuation (up to 12.75%) and annual leave loading (17.5%) (HP4) (Permanent Full Time, 76 hours p.f.)
