To learn more about Museum Victoria, please visit About us - Museums Victoria ABOUT THE POSITION: Museums Victoria's Sciences Department is a leader in biodiversity research. We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Research Assistant to provide technical expertise in the development and implementation of a CT scan data management system and bibliometric analysis for an ARC-funded research project in Herpetology. This is a casual, (approximately two days per week), for a total of 130 hours. In this role, you will provide a high level of technical archival and data management expertise. You will develop and implement an interactive Excel database to manage CT scan data generated through this research project, as well as an archival database of existing research publications. The position will also be responsible for undertaking a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of research papers to support a literature review publication. The ARC-funded project investigates the impacts of Quaternary climate change on past reptile and frog communities along a 3000 km latitudinal gradient, from the Australian tropics to the temperate south. The role will involve working with databases of existing CT scans of fossil and extant reptile specimens from natural history museum collections. You will have demonstrated experience in developing and implementing interactive Excel-based data management systems for natural history museum collections. You will also have experience managing archival databases of research publications using software such as EndNote, Zotero, or Mendeley, and demonstrated capability in conducting comprehensive bibliometric analyses of published research. Some of the key duties include: * Establishing and implementing an interactive Excel-based database to manage CT scan data generated through the ARC-funded research project. * Establishing and maintaining an archival database of relevant research publications associated with the project. * Working collaboratively with museum collection managers, researchers, and ICT staff to organise and manage CT scan data for herpetology specimens, including both fossil and extant material. * Undertaking comprehensive bibliometric analysis of existing research publications to support a literature review for publication. * Ensuring all data management and archival practices comply with Museums Victoria policies, procedures, and relevant legislation and regulations. OTHER INFORMATION This role is a Casual. The salary on offer is VPS 3.1 - $49.88 per hour inclusive of casual loading pro-rata per annum 12% Superannuation. HOW TO APPLY?
