Pastoral Care Services support residents to express their spirituality, faith, beliefs, and traditions in a way that is meaningful to them. Our team of Pastoral Care Practitioners understand the importance of enabling conversation with residents that is supportive and affirming.
Spiritual and religious practices such as prayer, rituals or religious sacraments are respectfully offered. Religious, cultural, and other special days are acknowledged and observed on an individual and group basis. Loss, grief, and palliative care support are consistently offered to residents, family, friends, and staff.
About the Role
As the Pastoral Care Music Therapist, you will provide music therapy services to support the spiritual, emotional, and psychological well-being of residents. This role involves working closely with the pastoral care team to provide holistic care that integrates music therapy with spiritual support.
You will be responsible for ensuring that your practice is in accordance with the Australian Music Therapy Association (AMTA) Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice and VMCH policies and guidelines.
Key Skills & Experience
* Bachelor's or master's degree in music therapy from an accredited institution
* Strong musical skills, including proficiency in playing multiple instruments
* Proven ability to provide best practice music therapy assessment and service delivery, including assessment and development of comprehensive plans and report writing
* Proven ability to provide best practice Music Therapy services to residents and their families
* Highly developed written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
* Effective consultative skills that facilitate change through use of reflective and strength-based practice
* Ability to coach other multi-disciplinary team members in areas of expertise
* Knowledge of various funding streams and service options for clients
* Proven experience in establishing and maintaining effective and professional relationships, building rapport and liaising with relevant stakeholders
* Ability to prepare briefings, case notes, reports and recommendations in a professional and considered manner
* Current valid driver's licence
