About the Role:
The overall purpose of the Senior Student Support Worker is to provide an effective and student-focused frontline service to all TAFE students. This is an outreach model where the support worker goes to the students to deliver efficient and professional information, advice and support to ascertain and meet student wellbeing needs.
The position of Senior Student Support Worker is responsible for the provision of career/course advisory services to prospective TAFE students, as well as student support in the areas of welfare, financial information, crisis, conflicts and complaints, personal stresses, and the provision and evaluation of appropriate support to all TAFE students experiencing a disability. The incumbent exercises initiative and judgement and will work collaboratively with others in meeting TAFE at VU strategic objectives. Some of the duties you will perform are:
* Manage and establish a collaborative approach to supporting all TAFE students across multiple campuses and courses.
* Establish and implement a systematic approach to the support needs of all TAFE students, including utilisation of existing Victoria University student support services
* Identify and develop new support services specifically for the TAFE cohort
* Provide information, advice and support to students on a range of personal and academic issues through structured sessions and informal drop ins
* Deliver professional learning activities (training and development) for teaching staff on managing challenging student behaviour
* Work collaboratively with colleagues to provide solutions to new challenges and develop a close operational partnership with the Student Services Team in order to actively participate in key events and activities, such as induction/orientation programs and wellbeing events.
* Data collection for regular reporting requirements both internally and externally
* Assist with ensuring that the experiences of all TAFE students are positive, productive and lead to employment opportunities
The University is a Child Safe organisation. You will be required to hold a current Working with Children Check (WWCC) or be willing to obtain one prior to commencing employment.
Position Details:
Salary: HEP 7 $101,288 - $109,639 per annum + 17% employer superannuation
Contract Type: Full time, Fixed-term (until 31 December 2026)
Hours per week: 36.75
Location: Various VU Campuses (Melbourne, VIC)
