Primary objective

As a member of the Driver Secondary School leadership team, provide strong instructional and curriculum leadership in the school's Science and

Mathematics learning areas. This involves leading the development, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of curriculum,

assessment and teaching practices in those subjects so that students across Years 7–12 achieve high-quality learning outcomes and teachers are

supported and developed in their practice.

Context statement

Driver Secondary School is expanding to be a full comprehensive high school offering education from Year 7 through to Year 12 by 2029, providing

a seamless and inclusive learning environment that caters to a diverse range of student interests and abilities. Our curriculum is guided by the

Australian Curriculum and the South Australian Certificate of Education for senior years students, and our school is designed to deliver the

Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training, with all students on a Northern Territory Certificate of Education and Training pathway

ensuring that students meet the academic standards required for successful completion of secondary education. In addition to a strong academic

curriculum, the school incorporates Vocational Education and Training pathways, enabling students to gain practical skills and industry-recognised

qualifications alongside their academic studies. This dual focus equips students with both the knowledge and competencies necessary to pursue

further education, training, or direct entry into the workforce, fostering well-rounded, future-ready graduates.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Enact the school vision with a focus on a shared respectful culture that challenges, sets high expectations of both students and teachers,

build capability skills so they can directly support all teachers to improve classroom instruction, student engagement and capable and

independent learners.

1. Provide coaching about teacher professional practice, knowledge and engagement to build high performing teams to foster a learning

environment for students that will result in improved student outcomes.

1. Models effective teaching practices through expectations for all staff to achieve high standards and build their capacity through professional

development and performance management.

1. Lead, coordinate and facilitate the implementation of Department of Education and Training systemic requirements and supported whole

evidence-based approaches, specifically implementation of Explicit Instructional Model and/or embedding Schoolwide Positive Behaviour

Support Framework.

1. Develop relationships with families and community groups to promote the school and its role in the wider community.
2. Work with other Senior Teachers, Assistant Principals and the Principal to drive the development of education at the school.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated capacity to model best practice secondary teaching and learning.

1. Proven ability to build the capacity of self, others and high performing teams through high level coaching and/or mentoring around curriculum,

pedagogy, assessment and the use of student data to inform teaching and learning.

3. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with the school Executive Leadership Team to lead innovation and implement strategic

initiatives that drive continuous improvement and enhanced outcomes across Year

1. Demonstrated ability to understand contemporary educational research relating to school improvement, in particular School-wide Positive

Behaviour and Explicit Instructional Model and demonstrated effective implementation of school based and system wide policies and

procedures.

1. Demonstrated ability to build a shared culture of high expectations, while developing and maintaining effective interpersonal and cross-

cultural relationships within and beyond the school community.
