Bendigo Rail Workshops (BRW) is a rail maintenance facility located in Bendigo, Victoria. BRW is a critical member of the Southern Shorthaul Railroad group of companies and as such performs maintenance work for some of the largest rail companies in Australia.

Job tasks and responsibilities
Due to winning a new long term contract BRW is expanding the maintenance team to include a full time Night Shift Supervisor to complete works based out of our Bendigo workshops.
The duties of this role will include but not limited to:
- Provide other staff with assistance and/or guidance as directed or if required to enable them to complete their tasks safely and to maintain quality.
- Be the first point of contact for workers under your supervision.
- Lead by example.
- Mentor other staff.
- Ability to prioritise tasks.
- Daily task allocation to project team members.
- Communicate and understand all facets of the service and out of course repairs with the estimator to ensure full understanding including:
o Deadlines to meet
o Resources required.
- Ensure all aspects (materials, resources, documentation) are available and prepared prior to starting work/job.
- Identify if additional materials, resources, or equipment is required for the task in a timely manner.
- Troubleshoot issues on the project
- Ensure all team members are working safely, productively and efficiently at all times.
- Commitment to a safety culture.
- Actively promote a safe working environment and maintain a safety conscious and risk averse approach to performance of all tasks.
- Be self-motivated.
- Endorse the “Ready To Go” at the end of every project.
Skills and experience
Mechanical or Electrical trade background
Prior experience supervising/leading a team
Prior experience in a workshops environment
Experience in heavy equipment is preferred but not essential
Rail Industry background highly regarded, but not essential
Our work shop is classified as a rail site and as such there is zero tolerance to drugs and alcohol. All employees are required to be drug and alcohol free at all times and random testing is conducted
Hold a current Victorian Drivers Licence
Hold a current Forklift Licence and be an experienced user
Hold a current National Police Check, or willingness to obtain one
Ability to work a rotating Night Shift roster. Weekday and Weekend Shifts included.
