Global Organisation | Melbourne HQ | Executive Finance Leadership Role
An internationally recognised organisation with a strong global presence is seeking an experienced Financial Controller to lead its worldwide financial control function.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer and forming part of the Global Finance Leadership Team, this role will oversee financial reporting, compliance, governance, and internal controls across multiple international jurisdictions.
This is a senior leadership opportunity suited to a technically strong finance professional who thrives in a complex, multi-entity, multi-currency environment and is passionate about building high-performing teams.
The Opportunity
You will take ownership of global financial control, ensuring robust systems, strong governance, and timely, accurate reporting across the organisation's international operations.
This role combines strategic leadership with hands‐on oversight of month‐end, year‐end, audit, tax compliance, and financial reporting processes.
Key Responsibilities Leadership & Team Management
* Lead, mentor and develop a global financial control team
* Drive accountability, engagement and high performance
* Partner with Finance Systems and FP&A leaders to improve processes and reporting capability
* Oversee finance policies, delegated authorities and internal control frameworks
Financial Reporting & Control
* Lead global month-end and year-end close processes
* Oversee statutory reporting across multiple jurisdictions
* Manage consolidated reporting and restricted income recognition
* Oversee AP, AR, payroll, fixed assets and general ledger functions
* Prepare Board and Audit Committee reporting
* Coordinate internal and external audits
Compliance & Governance
* Ensure global tax compliance (income tax, GST/VAT, payroll tax and related filings)
* Maintain adherence to accounting standards (IFRS/AASB)
* Oversee payroll‐related compliance requirements internationally
* Maintain a global compliance calendar and manage regulatory reporting obligations
Strategic & Risk Focus
* Identify and mitigate financial and regulatory risks
* Assess accounting impacts of organisational change
* Drive process improvement initiatives across the finance function
About You
You are a senior finance leader with strong technical expertise and the ability to influence at executive level.
You will bring:
* CA / CPA / CIMA qualification
* 15+ years' experience in senior financial control or similar leadership roles
* Experience in multi-entity, multi-currency global environments
* Strong technical accounting knowledge (IFRS/AASB)
* Proven experience leading audits and regulatory compliance
* Demonstrated ability to build and lead high-performing teams
* Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking capability
* Advanced Excel and financial systems expertise
