What is the focus of the role?
As a Chapter Type Lead in the Capability Engineering-Finance Technologies domain, your role is to drive the establishment of software engineering practices that enhance deep FinTech domain expertise within your teams. Your technical leadership will play a pivotal role in shaping our FinTech engineering workforce, practices, and technology. Your leadership expertise, business acumen, data-driven approach and experience fostering high standards of FinTech software development and operations will be instrumental as you:
* Develop and implement a workforce plan for building current and future capabilities within your teams.
* Collaborate with peers to create an innovative workplace culture that fosters technology talent growth.
* Set an example as a leader in agile software design, development, and operations across multiple engineering teams.
* Lead FinTech software development and operations in various capabilities like Credit & Risk Management, Billing Management, and more.
About the Capability Engineering chapters:
The Capability Engineering chapters foster software engineering skills for resilient, scalable, and secure software capabilities. Our DevOps teams handle full-cycle development and management of IT services. We develop Cloud Native services, utilise microservices, and employ serverless architecture, contributing to exceptional customer experiences. Our engineers excel in technical leadership, design, security, development, testing, service assurance, and incident resolution.
Key Responsibilities
Chapter Leadership:
* Build global capability within the chapter, including strategic work insourcing and expanding our Telstra Workforce globally.
* Uplift and embed FinTech engineering practices and disciplines, driving modern technology company capabilities and culture.
* Coach and develop Chapter Leaders to deliver high-quality outcomes and provide guidance to Chapter Members.
* Ensure clarity on performance and expectations, manage workforce allocation and champion diversity.
* Collaborate with various leads to innovate practices and improve FinTech engineering practices and people leadership skills.
* Role model continuous learning and provide clarity on capability requirements to inform chapter members’ development plans.
* Use feedback conversations to drive performance and uphold effective ways of working.
Capability Engineering-FinTech Principal – agile Group flow-to-work Responsibilities. When working as a member of an initiative team, you bring strong expertise and a breadth of experience in Software Engineering and specifically FinTech to:
* Role model the highest software engineering standards and drive faster time to market and better outcomes throughout the software development lifecycle.
* Lead fintech engineering strategy for complex multi-team deliveries.
* Provide hands-on technical expertise and foster a culture of observability across teams, including leveraging DORA to optimise performance.
* Stay updated on industry best practices, identify opportunities for culture, process and technology improvement and implement them across the organisation.
* Identify opportunities for technology-driven business growth and influence the market through thought leadership.
* Spot where multiple disciplines are solving the same challenges, and bring people together to solve these.
* Personally use systematic debugging to diagnose all issues within a set of related domains to enable best practice.
About you
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
* Global capability-building expertise in the FinTech domain and testing/release autonomy.
* Strong hands-on technical skills, including Java, Python, NodeJS, and functional testing.
* FinTech software domain knowledge in areas such as Payments, Billing, Credit & Fraud Assessment, Collections, etc.
* Collaborative ability to work with diverse stakeholders and drive commercial success.
* Data-driven decision-making skills using insights for strategy and workforce development.
