 
        
        EL1 Assistant Manager, Financial Reporting 
AUD - per annum, $138,463 + 15.5% 
An agency committed to accelerating carbon abatement seeks a talented financial reporting leader to support its Finance Section. This role reports to the Chief Financial Officer and leads a team that delivers monthly and annual financial statements, compliance under the PGPA Act, and external reporting to bodies such as the Department of Finance and ANAO. 
Key responsibilities 
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in accordance with Accounting Standards, PGPA Act, Estimates Memoranda and departmental guidance 
- Provide technical accounting advice, position papers, management and audit committee reports 
- Coordinate audit requests (external and internal) and maintain solid relationships with Department of Finance policy units and ANAO 
- Ensure sound asset management practices and internal financial controls 
- Lead, mentor, and support a small team to uphold high standards, timeliness, accuracy, and continuous improvement 
Skills and experience required 
- CA or CPA qualification or post‑graduate qualification in Commerce, Finance or related field (desirable) 
- Strong experience in preparing monthly and annual financial statements in a governmental/public sector context 
- Knowledge of the Australian Government financial framework, PGPA Act, Budget Management Systems and Accounting Standards 
- Demonstrated stakeholder relationship management, especially with Department of Finance and ANAO 
- Strong written/verbal communication skills; ability to provide accurate specialist advice 
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight timeframes with sound judgement
