About The Role:
Defence is seeking a Commercial Support Officer to work within Materiel Procurements Branch (MPB) in support of Space Systems Branch (SSB). The successful candidate will undertake a variety of branch-level commercial tasks relating to sustainment and acquisition projects, ranging from low-level advice to managing approaches to market and procurement evaluations. This is a dynamic role requiring initiative, sound commercial judgement, and the ability to operate independently within a small team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver branch-level commercial support for SSBs sustainment and acquisition activities.
* Respond to commercial enquiries and provide advice on procurement matters.
* Assist with preparation and management of approaches to market.
* Support tender evaluations and assist in contract development.
* Ensure compliance with Defence procurement policy and frameworks.
* Liaise with stakeholders across Defence and industry to support procurement outcomes.
About You:
* Demonstrated experience in commercial or procurement roles, preferably in a Defence or public sector environment.
* Proven ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
* Strong understanding of Commonwealth Procurement Rules and Defence-specific commercial practices.
* Effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
* Experience supporting Australian Defence Force (ADF) commercial initiatives.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
* Familiarity with space acquisition or technically complex procurement domains.
* ACAT1 Experience
