A key component of this is our role as the lead agency for several headspace centres.We are looking for a Senior Youth Counsellor to join our Southwest Team.

About the RoleThe Senior Youth Counsellor will provide high quality and evidence-based therapeutic interventions to young people and their families.
As a senior member of the team, the incumbent will also provide supervision and leadership to staff and students within the Southwest team with support from the Clinical Lead and Manager.
Key responsibilities of this role include:Utilising the Youth Focus Model of Care, provide office-based, outreach and telehealth individual (or group) interventions to young peopleSupport the Intake team in managing capacity as required by providing intake assessments to young people, in line with organisational processesRefer to and maintain a thorough knowledge and network of youth, health, and mental health resources, and when appropriate work in partnership with these networksWork collaboratively across internal and external services to ensure an integrated service for the young personParticipate and support regular clinical case review and team meetings to ensure appropriate clinical service pathway and service deliveryDrive high standards of accountability, legal compliance, safety, and performanceSupport the thorough induction and orientation of new employees ensuring they receive adequate mandatory training and information, as directed by the Clinical Lead and ManagerProvide support, guidance and clinical supervision to students and suitable staff, when required and as directedAbout YouTo be considered for this position, applicants will have:Bachelor\'s (or higher) in a relevant clinical discipline including psychology, social work, occupational therapy, counselling, or mental health nursingCurrent membership/registration with an appropriate professional bodyMinimum four (4) years\' post-graduate experience in Mental Health, ideally with experience working in a tier 2/3 youth mental health environmentDemonstrated knowledge and experience in carrying out detailed psychosocial and suicide risk assessments and escalation procedures, with capacity to guide and support staff in effectively managing riskDemonstrated clinical experience working therapeutically with young people, their varied needs, and ability to work with complex presentationsDemonstrated leadership experience, including role modelling, supervision and providing support to staff and studentsA thorough understanding and capacity to develop stakeholder relationships within the mental health sector, including referral pathwaysExceptional organisational and communication skills, both verbal and written\'C\' Class Driver\'s Licence and access to a reliable vehicle (essential)To successfully become part of our team, it is just as important to align with our values as it is to meet our selection criteria.
