The Opportunity
This role combines deep technical expertise in IoT protocols, cloud infrastructure, and database architecture to ensure our platform scales reliably, securely, and at scale. You will play a critical part in shaping the backbone of our telematics technology, working closely with hardware engineers and software teams to deliver cutting-edge technology.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop, deploy, manage, and maintain IoT data pipelines, communications and infrastructure.
* Design, develop, deploy, manage, and maintain data storage systems and infrastructure.
* Design, develop, deploy, manage, and maintain data analysis systems and infrastructure.
* Implement and optimize low-level communication and encoding protocols (MQTT, TCP, and custom).
* Collaborate with firmware and hardware teams to integrate device data seamlessly.
* Drive best practices for security, performance, and fault tolerance across the platform.
Required Experience
* Proven experience in backend or platform engineering with IoT (or similar high-volume, write-heavy) data systems.
* Strong knowledge of AWS services and cloud infrastructure.
* Familiarity with low-level protocols (MQTT, TCP) and custom protocol development.
* Expertise in database design, time-series data and high-availability systems.
* Familiarity with DevOps principles and infrastructure automation.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* Ability to work autonomously and take ownership of complex technical challenges.
* Ability to lead projects, mentor team members, and influence cross-functional teams.
* Desired: Experience working with embedded devices.
