Structural Laboratory Technician
We're partnering with an established manufacturer in the
building materials industry
to recruit a
Structural Laboratory Technician
to join their
Technical Services team
.
This position plays a key role in supporting product development and performance testing across a range of
building and construction materials
, including
insulated sandwich panels, steel products, and masonry
. It's a hands-on role focused on structural and fire testing, calibration, documentation, and quality control - ideal for someone who enjoys practical, technical work and problem-solving.
Key Responsibilities
* Conduct structural testing on wall and roofing products in line with
Australian Standards and Building Codes
* Prepare, schedule, and perform tests accurately and efficiently
* Record and report results, ensuring data integrity and traceability
* Maintain and calibrate laboratory instruments, equipment, and tools
* Conduct internal audits of the Quality System and ensure compliance
* Manage records for consumables, calibration, repairs, and procurement
* Identify and troubleshoot technical issues or equipment failures
* Communicate clearly with internal departments and provide testing updates
* Follow all
safety and quality procedures
and maintain a clean, organised workspace
About You
* Engineering degree or
Certificate IV in Laboratory Techniques
(or equivalent)
* Hands-on experience with
tools, testing equipment, or materials handling
* Strong practical understanding of
testing standards
and
quality systems
* Proficient with Microsoft Excel and computer-based reporting
* Excellent communication, time management, and problem-solving skills
* Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities
* Forklift or crane licence
(or willingness to obtain)
* Internal auditing experience
highly regarded
* First Aid
certification beneficial but not essential
