Position Information
Kyogle High School is a comprehensive high school located in the Northern Rivers on the land of the Bundjalung people. Currently the school has an enrolment of approximately 300 students with 14% identifying as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. Our school embeds Positive Behaviour for Learning and builds its high expectations around the core values of Safe, Respectful, Learner. A key feature of the school is the commitment of students, staff, and community to supporting a curriculum designed to engage all students in the learning process including innovative timetabling in stage 5. The school has three support classes with many of these students supported in mainstream classes to support their social, personal, and academic growth. Staff are committed to working together as a cohesive and collaborative team with a focus on improving student learning outcomes across the school. The three strategic directions for Kyogle High School of Student Growth and Attainment, Teaching, Learning & Leading and Equity Focused underpin all procedures within the school. The school is supported by an active and involved P&C.
Selection Criteria
Approval to teach careers or currently undertaking or currently enrolled in the Careers Adviser qualifications approved by the New South Wales Department of Education.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to form productive relationships with students, families, staff and external agencies.
Demonstrated ability to inform, support and engage a diverse range of students in careers and transition pathways to set them up for future success.
Highly developed knowledge and understanding of vocational education and training in schools, school-based apprenticeships and traineeships, and HSC pathways.
Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with staff, external agencies and the wider school community to improve access and opportunities for all students including university, training and work opportunities.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
