The Australian Bureau of Statistics is seeking to fill the position of **Assistant Director** in our **IT Work Program Management** section.
This is an ongoing, permanent position at the Executive Level 1 classification level and the successful applicant can work from any of our offices located in Canberra, Adelaide, Brisbane, Geelong, Hobart, Melbourne or Sydney, although a hybrid model of working from home and the office applies.
**About the role**
The role of Assistant Director, IT Work Program Management Section, is part of our Business Relationship Management Office/ Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) function within the Technology and Security Division.
The Assistant Director, IT Work Program Management role responsibilities include:
- partner with internal and external stakeholders to achieve work area and agency goals and demonstrate a high level of collaboration across relevant sections
- lead strategic and operational aspects of the four key service offerings: IT Budget Management, Capability & Capacity Management, Business Management & planning, FinOps
- conduct formal and informal monitoring and prioritisation of program activities against the strategic business objectives
- lead continuous improvement initiatives to drive operational efficiency into processes, ways of working and potentially FinOps, to create capacity, reduce costs, remove manual activities and reduce key person risk
- evaluate team and individual performance, providing regular constructive feedback, training and guidance, and mentoring of team members to achieve their full potential
- prepare and support the delivery of accurate and timely divisional reporting with high quality analysis and commentary that is suited to the audience, effectively communicating the story behind the numbers or information
- implement consistent, industry aligned, work practices and drive a high-performance team culture
- complete ad-hoc or division-specific financial management tasks and requirements that fall outside of the standard ABS-wide budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes
- build and impart project/ portfolio expertise, providing an expert understanding of business plans, priorities and projects as well as broader organisational priorities
- deliver agreed operational services to a division of >700 people as well as drive operational excellence and efficiency into the services.
