Your New Role
Classroom and learning support (CLS) is a dedicated service that provides a range of resources and assistance to students with disabilities and additional learning needs. It aims to create an inclusive learning environment where all students can reach their full potential. CLS staff work closely with classroom teachers to identify and address students' needs, providing tailored support and strategies. This may include direct instruction, small group work, assistive technology, and behaviour management techniques. CLS also offers professional development to teachers, helping them implement effective inclusive practices.
Responsibilities
* Assist teachers and students in and outside the Learning Spaces
* Assist with the supervision of small groups and/or individual students on activities, as directed by the teacher
* Undertake specific tasks with individuals or small groups of students under the guidance of the teacher
* Toileting and supervising students during break times (on a shared roster)
* Support the students and/or teachers in the use of technology
* Assist students with physical, medical or mobility challenges

Selection Criteria
* An understanding of and commitment to the ideals of Catholic Education
* An understanding of inclusive education principles
* Understanding of confidentiality
* Adaptable and flexible in work situations
* Experience in working with students with a range of additional needs
* Demonstrated ability to manage challenging behaviours in line with PBL principles
* Willingness to undertake specific tasks and implement with small groups of children or individual learners, including personal care and playground supervision
* Training in implementing specific intervention programmes highly desirable e.g. Multilit, Quicksmart
* Enrolled in a Bachelor of Education highly desirable
* Current First Aid and CPR
* Valid NSW Working With Children Check
* Successful candidate required to undergo a National Criminal History check
