Job Overview
Spray painters are responsible for preparing surfaces and applying paint to a range of equipment using various techniques. This includes painting trucks, parts, cranes, buses, caravans, heavy machinery, and other industrial equipment.
Key Responsibilities
* Clean, sand, fill, and prime surfaces to be painted, removing rust and other materials.
* Apply masking tape and coverings to protect areas not being painted.
* Select and mix paints and coatings to achieve the correct color, consistency, and specifications for the job.
* Operate spray guns and equipment to apply primer, base coats, and clear coats evenly.
* Inspect painted products to ensure they meet quality standards, monitoring for drips, runs, and inconsistencies.
* Operate buffing machines, apply polish to remove imperfections, and achieve a desired level of shine.
* Maintain spray guns, hoses, and other equipment to ensure optimal performance.
* Follow safety protocols and wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Requirements
* A relevant qualification such as Certificate II or III in a relevant field.
* At least one year of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
* A minimum of three years of relevant experience as a spray painter.
* Proven experience as a spray painter for industrial equipment.
* A valid driver's license.
* The ability to work flexible hours based on project needs.
* Will need to be willing to travel to sites or field locations.
