The Role
REMO Technical Services is seeking casual Grade A Electrical Technicians to join our growing team for ongoing work across multiple locations throughout Australia.
The anticipated roster is 3 weeks on /1 week off, working on average 60 hours per week.
As a Grade A Electrical Technician you will play a critical role in ensuring efficient and safe installation and maintenance of wind turbines, ensuring high-quality execution of installations and long-term operational performance. This role requires expertise in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, along with the ability to troubleshoot and perform maintenance in challenging and high-risk environments.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist in the mechanical and electrical assembly and installation of wind turbine components, including towers, nacelles, rotor blades, and electrical systems.
* Support the commissioning of turbines, ensuring all components are properly integrated and operational.
* Ensure all installation tasks adhere to manufacturer specifications, technical drawings, and industry standards.
* Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on turbines, including mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
* Troubleshoot faults in turbine systems and components, diagnose issues, and carry out repairs or replacements as needed.
* Conduct detailed inspections of wind turbine systems and components, identifying wear, damage, and areas of improvement.
* Perform load testing, vibration analysis, and other diagnostic tests on turbine systems to ensure reliability and performance.
* Support the creation of inspection reports, documenting the condition of turbines, and any recommendations for repairs or further actions.
* Adhere to all health and safety protocols, including fall protection, working at heights, electrical safety, and confined space entry.
* Participate in regular safety meetings and contribute to a safety-first culture on all job sites.
* Work closely with senior technicians, engineers, and site supervisors to ensure efficient execution of projects and tasks.
* Communicate project progress, issues, and any technical challenges to the Lead Installation Technician or Site Supervisor in a timely manner.
* Perform routine maintenance checks on tools and equipment to ensure proper functioning.
* Maintain detailed records of maintenance logs, safety audits, and any equipment or system performance issues.
* Carry out other duties within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job as requested by your Line Manager.
Required Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent.
* Additional technical education or vocational training in electrical, mechanical, or industrial engineering – desirable.
* Manual Handling.
* Working at Heights.
* Valid First Aid/CPR.
* GWO Certifications - desirable to have 6 month validity.
* Advanced Rescue Training.
* HV Switching - desirable.
* Drivers Licence.
* Electrical Licence in either SA, VIC, NSW, QLD or WA - desirable to have mutual recognition in multiple states.
Skills and Experience
* 2-4 years' experience in the installation, maintenance, or inspection of wind turbines or other large-scale industrial machinery.
* Proven experience working with mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
* Familiarity with wind turbine brands and manufacturers, including turbine assembly, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
* Experience with working at heights and operating lifting equipment.
* Strong technical aptitude with the ability to read and interpret schematics, technical drawings, and operation manual.
* Proficiency in troubleshooting mechanical and electrical issues.
* Knowledge of relevant safety standards, including fall protection, confined space entry, and electrical safety.
* Ability to work in physically demanding conditions, including working at heights.
* Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
