* Hours: Typical roster: Monday 8:30‐1:30, Tuesday 8:30‐1:30, Wednesday 8:30‐3:15, Thursday 8:30‐1:30, Friday 8:30‐1:30

Role Summary
We are looking for a passionate, skilled and efficient Centre Cook to join Westmere Children's Services Centre, a 50-place long day care centre in Coolaroo. We provide education and care for children aged 0‐5 years from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm, 50 weeks of the year.
What You'll Be Doing
* Provide a wide range of nutritious meals and snacks for children, reflecting the nutritional and cultural requirements of the children within the scope of the National Quality Standards and the Centre's food policy.
* Plan menus for children in the centre, taking into account specific dietary requirements, such as allergies and cultural beliefs, and maximizing the use of fresh seasonal fruit and vegetables.
* Communicate regularly with room educators and families to ascertain dietary requirements for each child.
* Prepare a 6‐week menu including all food and beverages, and indicate expected financial costings.
* Communicate effectively with food suppliers to ensure efficient ordering and delivery of high‐quality produce and service.
* Use online ordering services to purchase groceries and supplies, ensuring efficiencies in managing menus and stock controls.
* Maintain and document all financial management requirements of the program, including food budget, credit card expenditure and reconciliation.
* Develop and maintain documentation of the menu (purchasing, quantities, menu planning and recipes).
* Perform online credit card reconciliations and finalize monthly statements.
* Support staff in implementing effective food handling practices.
* Ensure all menu and nutrition displays are up to date and professional.

* Management skills: Effective time management, ability to work independently, and budgetary control.
* Ability to ensure meals are prepared according to the planned menu and that necessary goods are purchased on time.
* Skills in oral and written communication.
* Ability to relate well to young children and their families.
* Sensitivity to cultural, social, emotional and economic issues related to children and their families.
* Ability to work in a team environment and resolve minor problems.
Required Certifications & Qualifications
* Certificate III in Commercial Cookery.
* Demonstrated experience cooking for large numbers of children, especially those with specialist dietary requirements including food allergies.
* Demonstrated experience planning a menu that is culturally consistent with the centre's diversity.
* Demonstrated ability to provide a diverse menu offering children choice and variety.
