Credit Risk Officer, Westpac Institutional Bank

Join the Institutional Credit team to support the Energy, Infrastructure and Resources (EIR) portfolio within the WIB EIR Credit team. All roles at Westpac Group can be considered for flexible working arrangements, such as flexible hours, working remotely, part time work, or job sharing.

- Responsibility includes provision of Credit risk support, due diligence and approval of Acquisition Finance, Trade Finance, Asset Finance and Project Finance transactions within your portfolio.

**How will I help?**

Report to the Head of Energy, Infrastructure and Resources (EIR Credit) and provide proactive risk management of a portfolio of Institutional EIR-related clients, and when required, other corporate clients. Lead the underwriting and credit approval process for client requests under your responsibility, including acquisition finance, trade finance, asset finance and project finance related transactions.

You will be a key member of the wider EIR Credit team responsible for the Energy, Infrastructure and Resources client portfolios. The team also closely supports Financial Markets transactions in the approval and management of credit risk arising from hedging activities, as well as active origination deals via our Leverage Acquisition Finance and Project Finance teams.

Your responsibilities will include:

- Collaborate with 1st line stakeholders to understand deal structures, threshold risks and mitigation strategies.
- Demonstrate prudent and clear judgment in the assessment and management of the credit risks within the business, including the early recognition of problem loans and implementation of remediation plans.
- Adopt a continuous improvement policy to build the Westpac brand leadership in the market.
- Ability to act independently, think innovatively, solve problems and exhibit a collaborative growth mindset.
- Contribute to the strategic positioning of WIB to ensure that credit strategies and policies are appropriately aligned with business units' objectives.
- Contribute to the development of a robust credit culture within the business.

**What do I need?**

You will have at least 7 years' experience in a credit related analytical role with previous delegated authority to approve credit risk (highly desired) and experience in the EIR-related sectors (including general corporates) and acquisition / project finance transactions. While not essential, demonstrated experience in credit policy reviews, APRA reporting and portfolio data analysis would be viewed positively. In addition to your technical capabilities, you will have the ability to problem solve and make commercial and risk decisions in high pressure environments. With ability to develop trusted relationships you will exhibit a collaborative growth mindset. Practical knowledge of legal documentation would be highly regarded.
