The Barry Plant group's No. 1 office is searching for a dynamic Chief Operating Officer to join our Executive team.

This position is full-time, working Monday to Friday.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Chief Operating Officer is responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of business operations to ensure the organisation runs smoothly, efficiently and to a high standard across all areas.

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, this role leads business operations, oversees operational budgets and drives accountability across the organisation. It is responsible for improving systems, strengthening processes and allocating resources to support consistent performance and sustainable business growth.

This is an exciting and hands-on leadership role in a market-leading and award-winning business that moves quickly and operates at pace. The Chief Operating Officer plays a key role in ensuring the business delivers a high standard of service at every stage of the client journey while continuing to build a strong, positive and high-performing team culture.

As a key implementation partner to the Managing Director, the Chief Operating Officer is also a driving force behind the continued growth and improvement of the business. The role requires strategic vision, strong judgement and a genuine ability to lead change, while identifying gaps, recognising opportunities, developing solutions and taking ownership of implementation to ensure initiatives are delivered effectively and embedded across the organisation.

The Chief Operating Officer oversees a team of approximately 25 employees, including 10 direct reports, and provides operational leadership across a business of approximately 170 people.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Operations Management
* Lead the day-to-day operations of the business and ensure departments run effectively, efficiently and consistently.
* Drive accountability, structure and follow-through across the organisation.
* Lead the implementation of business priorities and operational initiatives across the group.
* Oversee the operational framework supporting Sales and Property Management to ensure it is efficient, consistent and aligned with business standards.
* Identify operational gaps, inefficiencies and improvement opportunities
* Oversee support functions connected to listings, campaign preparation, compliance, administration and client service.
* Work with leaders to strengthen workflows that support agents, property managers and support teams.
* Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, service standards and coordination across core real estate operations.
* Support consistency across offices and departments to ensure a seamless experience for clients and team members.
* Oversee operational budgets, resource planning and allocation across the business.
* Establish clear reporting rhythms, operational visibility and performance measures.
* Monitor business performance and provide recommendations to support decision-making and continuous improvement.
* Support sustainable business growth through strong planning, execution and business readiness.
Client Journey and Service Delivery
* Oversee the client journey across the business to ensure a high standard of service at every stage.
* Drive consistency in service delivery across Sales, Property Management and support functions.
* Review service gaps, pressure points and workflow issues that may impact the client experience and implement improvements.
* Ensure internal processes and team structures support a professional, responsive and client-focused business.
* Support teams to deliver exceptional service and strong outcomes for clients.
* Act as a senior escalation point for complex client matters where required.
Leadership and Team Management
* Lead, support and develop a team of approximately 25 employees, including 10 direct reports.
* Provide clear direction, set expectations and maintain accountability across the broader team.
* Support leaders and managers across the business to build capability, improve performance and maintain alignment.
* Train and develop leaders across the business to strengthen leadership capability and consistency.
* Review team structures and workforce allocation to ensure the business is set up for efficiency, accountability and growth.
* Foster a strong, positive and high-performing team culture.
* Promote collaboration, communication and consistency across departments.
* Monitor team performance and address issues proactively.
Legal, Compliance and Business Risk
* Establish controls, systems and processes to ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory obligations and internal policies.
* Oversee risk matters across the business and ensure issues are identified early and managed appropriately.
* Resolve complex legal issues, prepare reports, and act as the main contact for legal counsel and regulatory agencies.
* Support the management team on sensitive or high-risk matters.
* Ensure business records, documentation and operational practices support compliance and risk management across the organisation.
Cross-Department Support
* Provide key operational support to the Director group across the businesses Work closely with the Leadership team to translate priorities into clear actions, ownership and outcomes.
* Lead the implementation of business initiatives, change management and group-wide improvements.
* Act as a central link across departments to strengthen coordination, communication and execution.
