Solution Designer – Banking Data (12-Month Contract, Sydney)
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Solution Designer to join our Sydney-based team on a 12-month contract. In this pivotal role, you will design and deliver scalable data solutions tailored for consumer banking environments. You’ll work closely with stakeholders to modernize legacy systems, streamline data integration, and enable smarter, more efficient banking operations.
What You’ll Do
- Design and implement scalable data solutions using ETL tools (Informatica IDMC/CDI, PowerCenter, or similar).
- Lead solution design for large-scale data migration and integration projects, including impact assessments and data flow diagrams.
- Reengineer legacy data warehouses and ETL workflows into contemporary, maintainable architectures.
- Develop and optimize high-performance ETL pipelines to ensure data integrity and operational efficiency.
- Translate complex consumer banking requirements (e.g., General Ledger processes) into practical technical solutions.
- Implement robust data validation, governance, and quality frameworks (Informatica IDQ or equivalent).
- Apply CI/CD practices (Bitbucket, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) to automate deployments.
- Provide technical leadership and mentoring, sharing best practices in data integration and modernization.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience in solution design and data engineering at a senior level.
- Proficiency with ETL tools (Informatica IDMC/CDI, PowerCenter preferred).
- Strong knowledge of consumer banking workflows, particularly General Ledger processes.
- Experience with legacy data platforms (Oracle, DB2, custom systems) and large-scale data migration.
- Advanced SQL/PLSQL skills and hands-on experience with Oracle, PostgreSQL, or other RDBMS.
- Expertise in data modeling and governance practices.
- Familiarity with Agile ways of working and tools such as JIRA/Confluence.
- Knowledge of data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker) a plus.
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to simplify complex technical concepts.
