Offer description

Medical Secretary (Work from home. Perth-based)

Full Time

About us

Strive Anaesthesia is a group of 31 specialist anaesthetists providing anaesthetic services to the Perth community. Our vision is to be the premier provider of anaesthetic services in metropolitan Perth. We are seeking to employ a full time Medical Secretary to join our highly-regarded, dynamic and supportive group. We operate virtual rooms, with our administrative staff working from home and performing their duties online and over the phone, with the support of the user-friendly MediTrust billing and practice management software programme, a cloud-based phone system, and the online collaboration of the positive and enabling Strive team. All computer equipment will be provided and set up for you by our IT consultant, though you will need your own reliable home internet connection.

This is a fully-remote role, but we value connection, so our secretarial team meet in person at least four times per year. We will only, therefore, consider Perth-based candidates.

Qualifications & experience required

Previous Office Administrator experience with accompanying computer skills (essential). Experience as a Medical Secretary - especially in an anaesthetic practice - will give you an edge over other applicants, but this is not essential, as we will provide training if you do not have this.

Ability to work from home from 9am to 5pm in a home office setting with no distractions (you will be handling sensitive patient information), with a reliable home internet connection (essential).

Excellent, proven customer care skills with a friendly, positive and professional approach to dealing with internal and external customers.

Competence in Microsoft Office (essential).

A keen learner who demonstrates the ability to learn new software and understand Medicare and Private Health Fund billing processes.

A self-starter with experience of working independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Ability to work under pressure (our phone lines can get busy) and to prioritise tasks, whilst maintaining high attention to detail.

Your employment will also be subject to you obtaining a National Police Certificate (NPC).

Tasks & responsibilities

Managing bookings and billing for our anaesthetists using MediTrust practice management software.

Liaising with surgeons' rooms to obtain theatre lists. Preparing documentation and quotations for patients.

Answering patient enquiries / Seeking supporting medical documentation if necessary / Ensuring pre-operative out-of-pocket payments are made. Maintaining patient confidentiality at all times.

Liaising with our anaesthetists: Coordinating the ad hoc work on offer / Finding cover when our anaesthetists are unavailable.

Following up medical claims with Health Insurance Funds and Workers Compensation Insurers.

Effectively working together with other colleagues to deliver positive results and a first-class service to our customers. Ensuring open communication, collaboration and professionalism at all times.

Work from Home, Regular Hours

Enjoy the convenience of working from home, with regular hours (9 am - 5pm). No commutes, just better work-life balance.

Supportive, connected team culture.

Be part of a dynamic and friendly virtual team that values collaboration and connection. We meet in person several times a year to stay engaged and celebrate our shared success.

Empowered by Visionary Leadership

Work alongside a group of forward-thinking anaesthetists with a “can do” attitude, supported by a highly regarded secretarial team known for delivering exceptional service.
