About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Religious Education teacher to join our innovative educational environment in Term 3. The successful candidate will be working with students in years 7-10, delivering engaging and comprehensive lessons that align with the school's Catholic ethos and the religious education curriculum within the Victorian Curriculum.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and deliver high-quality Religious Education lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students.
* Foster the spiritual growth and development of students by providing opportunities for prayer, reflection, and exploration of Catholic teachings, values, and traditions.
* Assist students in preparing for sacraments such as Confirmation, First Holy Communion, and Reconciliation through religious instruction, retreats, and sacramental programs.
* Teach students about the Bible, including the Old and New Testaments, and guide them in understanding the teachings of Jesus Christ and their relevance to contemporary life.
* Explore ethical and moral issues from a Catholic perspective, including topics such as social justice, human rights, and the dignity of life, and encourage students to apply Catholic moral principles to their decision-making and actions.
* Engage with the school community, including parents, parish members, and external Catholic organizations, to promote collaboration and support for the school's religious education program.
* Provide pastoral support and guidance to students, including counselling, mentoring, and spiritual direction, to help them navigate personal challenges and develop a deeper relationship with God.
* Assess students' understanding and application of Catholic teachings and values through various forms of assessment, including exams, projects, presentations, and reflective journals.
Requirements
* Must have unrestricted working rights in Australia.
* Hold a valid VIT registration.
* CECV Accreditation to teach in a Catholic School (or working towards) - school can support this.
* Experience in RE from 7-11 advantageous - graduates welcome to apply.
* Understanding of the Vic Curriculum - experience teaching in Vic/Australia.
* Minimum 4-year bachelor's degree containing a teaching qualification, with further study an advantage.
* Ability to provide contact details for two education-based references from within the last 5 years from upper management.
* An understanding and appreciation of Catholic teachings, values, and traditions are essential for teaching within the Catholic system, or a preparedness to be working within this system.
