About the position:
To supervise Council's capital works program ensuring that contracts are efficiently managed, and all projects are delivered on time, within scope, on budget and comply with all relevant government regulations, standards, codes and Council's Integrated Maranoa Management System (IMMS).
Key responsibilities
* Lead and support the Mitchell Projects Team in daily operations.
* Provide guidance, mentoring and on-the-job support to team members.
* Conduct toolbox talks, pre-start meetings and site inductions.
* Assist with recruitment, onboarding and performance management activities.
* Approve timesheets and ensure accurate recording of work activities.
Programming & Budget of Works
* Assist in planning and delivering the capital works program.
* Monitor project budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
* Participate in project reviews and provide progress updates.
Project Supervision & Delivery
* Supervise the delivery of capital works projects from start to finish.
* Coordinate labour, plant, materials and contractors to achieve project outcomes.
* Monitor project progress and ensure works are completed on time and within budget.
* Maintain site records and provide regular project reporting.
Construction & Maintenance
* Participate in construction and maintenance activities as required.
* Ensure works are completed to approved standards and specifications.
* Support traffic management, site preparation and general labouring activities.
Safety & Security
* Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe work practices are followed.
* Ensure employees, contractors and visitors comply with site safety requirements.
* Complete and maintain required safety documentation and records.
* Ensure Council assets, equipment and work sites are secure.
Procurement
* Assist with contractor engagement and procurement activities.
* Support tender evaluations and contract administration processes.
* Monitor contractor performance and maintain accurate records.
* Operate plant and equipment safely and efficiently when required.
* Maintain accurate plant, maintenance and operational records.
* Ensure plant and equipment are used and maintained in accordance with Council procedures
