Greater Shepparton City Council’s Finance and Rates department is seeking an experienced financial professional to join our Financial Analysis and Planning Team on a full-time basis.
Are you looking for a new challenge in local government? Do you enjoy building relationships and supporting various business units to achieve quality financial reporting? We are seeking a Finance Business Partner who will play a key role in our Finance Business Partner framework and be a driver in our capital planning and budgeting processes.
This position involves analyzing data, providing reports with recommendations, and working collaboratively with Council staff and stakeholders to improve systems, procedures, and tools related to financial activities. It also includes assisting staff in understanding and using financial information effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
* Facilitating Council’s capital budgeting processes, including maintaining the 10-year capital works plan
* Building strong relationships with Responsible Managers and Budget Officers to provide value-adding financial services
* Analyzing financial data to support performance and decision-making, in conjunction with non-financial information
* Assisting in preparing annual budgets, long-term financial plans, and financial reports
The successful applicant will have:
* Tertiary qualifications in accounting; membership of a recognized Australian professional accounting body is highly regarded
* Experience in related roles
* Strong communication skills
* A good understanding of financial management, analysis, and planning
* The ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail
* Customer focus and capacity to influence change positively
