Providing truly local service to all corners of our region, Riverland Funerals operates chapels and offices in three major Riverland towns: Berri, Renmark and Waikerie. Please be aware that candidates may be required to undertake their duties at any or all of these locations.
Riverland Funerals also operates and manages Riverland Cremation Services providing a local crematorium for the Riverland Community.

ABOUT THE ROLE
Opportunities have opened for Funeral Directors' Assistants to join our team. These are entry-level positions and successful candidates require no industry experience but will become familiar with many facets of the funeral industry.
This role is quite dynamic and would be well suited to an individual who likes a range of different tasks from day to day, rather than a small scope of repetitive work. A Funeral Director's Assistant is expected to develop competency in most, if not all the following duties as part of a team. On-the-job training will be provided.
Typical duties include:
* Assisting in the preparation and delivery of funeral services
* Greeting families and attendees at funeral services
* Operating and maintaining fleet vehicles and other equipment
* General cleaning and maintenance of facilities and vehicles
* Transfer of deceased into our care
* Engraving and cutting of signs and plaques
* Operating video cameras and multimedia equipment
* Assembly and installation of small monuments and plaques
* Setting up equipment for funeral services, including cemetery equipment
* Trimming of coffins and caskets

* Making funeral arrangements with client families

Multiple casual positions are available. For the right candidate, the position may become permanent.
The role includes some after-hours work and after an initial training and probationary period, the successful candidates will be expected to join our on-call roster rotation.
KEY ATTRIBUTES OF SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATES
* Well-presented, honest, and reliable.
* Able to maintain strict confidentiality.
* Physically fit and able to lift heavy objects.
* Has excellent communication skills.
* Comfortable working within the funeral industry, and able to maintain composure in difficult or confronting environments.
* Holds a current Australian Driver's License.
* Has availability for after-hours work.
* Has basic computer skills at a minimum.
* Able to obtain a satisfactory National Police Check and Working with Vulnerable Persons Clearance.
* Prepared to receive vocationally relevant vaccinations.
REMUNERATION
We offer competitive, over-award rates. Casual positions are subject to a loading of 25%.
After-hours work is paid at penalty rates, and there is a daily standby allowance for on-call work.
The company provides vaccinations, clearance checks, uniforms, and dry cleaning.
