Senior Geotechnical Engineer Position
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our Underground Technical Services group, you will play a pivotal role in the safe management and delivery of all Geotechnical requirements within the Geotechnical Engineering team.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in geotechnical engineering, with experience in mine design software such as Deswik. You will be responsible for conceptualising, initiating, presenting and implementing specific Geotechnical improvement projects for productivity and profitability gains by the mine.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and mentor a team of Geotechnical Engineers.
* Responsibility for the development of functional work plans and processes for the Geotechnical Department ensuring strategic requirements are met.
* Conceptualise, initiate, present and implement specific Geotechnical improvement projects for productivity and profitability gains by the mine.
* Providing Geotechnical advice and direction in the planned and active underground mining areas, ensuring effective and appropriate ground support systems are in place to support safe mining activities.
* Working closely with the technical production team in the design of the mine level and stope extraction plans, including evaluating / modelling rock stress resulting from the planned extraction sequencing, crown and wall stability performance and filling requirements.
* Work closely with operations to prioritise and execute Geotechnical activities i.e. generation, co-ordination and QC/QA for all underground check scaling & rehabilitation plans and rock bolt pull testing throughout the mine.
* End of day reporting for all Geotechnical activities and compliance against schedule.
* Review and update the Ground Control Management Plan (GCMP).
* Contribute to the development of geotechnical instrumentation and monitoring system for mining activities.
Requirements:
* Tertiary Qualifications in Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent).
* Current "C" Class Western Australian Drivers Licence (Manual).
* Experience with mine design software - Deswik.
* Underground geotechnical experience in a mechanised hard-rock underground mine.
* Good communication skills.
* Flexibility to adapt to improved procedures and practices.
* St Johns Senior First Aid certificate (desirable).
* Awareness of the Work Health & Safety Act and Regulations (desirable).
