About the Opportunity
We’re looking for a talented and driven Mechanical Design Engineer to join our collaborative Research & Development team based in Prestons, NSW. This role reports functionally to the Lead Mechanical Engineer. You'll contribute meaningfully to innovative engineering projects, designed and delivered to Australian Standards.
What You’ll Be Doing
* Conducting feasibility analyses and contributing to business cases for development projects.
* Supporting the development team throughout the execution of design projects.
* Undertaking and summarising physical testing of both new and existing products.
* Collaborating with manufacturing and industrialisation teams to resolve production issues.
* Conducting detailed design analysis, including product and packaging.
* Driving product development in consultation with the design team.
* Delivering projects within agreed timelines and budgets.
* Assisting in technical documentation and writing product specifications.
What You’ll Bring

* A degree in engineering or a related technical field.
* A passion for innovation and continuous improvement.
* Strong communication and report writing skills.
* Solid computer literacy, especially in MS Office.
* Understanding of quality control concepts and relevant standards.
* Confidence reading and interpreting technical drawings.
* Proficiency in 3D CAD (preferably Creo or SolidWorks) and 2D CAD (AutoCAD).
* Knowledge of DFM/DFA, sheet metal design, injection mould/tool design, and engineering plastics.
* Experience with 3D printing is a plus.
* Strong time management, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
* The ability to work both independently and in a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
* A collaborative mindset and eagerness to share knowledge and learn from others.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar design role.
