Lead a region where your leadership matters more than your technical discipline.
If you've led anywhere in the environmental sector, your expertise transfers here. This is a leadership-first position - focused on people, commercial performance, and regional growth - not about being the top groundwater expert.
You'll shape the strategy for North Queensland, not just deliver someone else's plan.
You decide how the region grows, how clients are approached, and who joins the team. The client base spans infrastructure, resources, and water security. The regulatory environments are also similar so if you've navigated environmental approvals, risk, and stakeholder relationships before, you'll step in with confidence.
Built-in technical backup and team strength
Hydrogeology technical depth is already in place. Senior Principals and a national Technical Services function carry the weight of technical responsibility. That gives you the space to lead without being exposed - and the backup to make quality decisions.
You'll inherit a team of capable professionals, not a rebuild. Your focus is on lifting standards, coaching senior talent, and growing capability across the region. For a seasoned leader accustomed to high turnover or stretched teams, this stability is rare and valuable.
Sustainable pace and real autonomy
High performance is expected - but not at the expense of wellbeing - 50–60 hour weeks aren't the norm here. Clear governance and forward planning mean you can manage workload and pressure proactively. Sustainable pace is built into how this business is run.
And you'll operate with true independence. AGE is employee-owned, with no private equity pressure or shifting corporate agendas. Decisions stay local. Growth stays sustainable. Quality and long-term standards stay protected.
What you'll lead
You'll take ownership of the North Queensland region, leading performance across people, clients, delivery, and commercial outcomes. You grow revenue by strengthening existing relationships and opening new opportunities across infrastructure, resources, and water security. You shape a clear regional plan and execute it with discipline.
You'll lead an established team of hydrogeologists and environmental specialists. You coach experienced consultants, support emerging talent, and build capability at every level. You create clarity around expectations, maintain strong engagement, and ensure people have direction and support.
How you'll drive growth and performance
You'll hold full accountability for revenue, costs, utilisation, and regional profitability. You review performance regularly, adjust course when needed, and make decisions that protect long-term health over short-term gain. You ensure projects are scoped properly, delivered to a high technical standard, and commercially sound. When challenges arise, you step in early and resolve them.
You'll represent the region externally, strengthening client partnerships and building AGE's profile across industry and community networks.
What you'll bring
* Leadership experience within environmental or adjacent technical consulting sectors. Core strength in hydrogeology and geochemistry is highly regarded. We also see strong value in leaders from aligned disciplines that regularly intersect with groundwater and environmental risk - ecology, hydrology, planning and approvals, geotechnical, contaminated land, mine closure, water resources and civil engineering.
* Commercial judgement, including exposure to P&L, budgeting, and utilisation management.
* You've built trusted client partnerships and turned them into long-term revenue streams.
* Full Australian working rights.
