The Housing Industry Association is Australia's peak residential building industry body, providing member services, industry advocacy and training for a range of building trade qualifications.
HIA is seeking a Trainer/Assessor to train, assess and mentor participants in its Certificate III in Carpentry apprenticeship program and our VET in Schools programmes. The role also coordinates on-the-job work experience blocks to monitor participants whilst completing a Carpentry apprenticeship.
Key responsibilities include:
* Provide the delivery of quality training and assessment to participants;
* Mentor participants through their apprenticeship program;
* Monitor off the job training progression component for participants;
* Conduct on site visits where required;
* Complete reports of site visits for funding purposes;
* Ensure the quality of training complies with HIA’s Registered Training Organisation requirements and the Standards for RTOs 2025, regulated by ASQA; and any funding obligations that apply
* Assist in the delivery of support sessions to participants to assist with their learning pathway;
* Maintain professional development activities as a Trainer/Assessor following HIA’s policies
* Liaise with other HIA Trainers/Assessors in relation to ongoing HIA continuous improvement and product review;
* Engage in industry forums to inform and promote HIA’s training activities; and
* Other duties as required to contribute towards the running of a profitable and compliant business unit
* Must be able to work and travel to regional and remote locations
* Must be able to work flexible hours
The successful applicant will require:
* Relevant qualifications in Training and Education (Current TAE40122 / TAE40110 / TAE40116 Certificate IV Training and Assessment or higher; or could meet the credentials for the delivery of training and assessment under the SRTOs 2025 Credential Policy);
* Relevant qualifications and/or experience in Building and Construction;
* An understanding of the VET sector and training packages, particularly the CPC Construction, Plumbing and Services Training Package;
* An understanding or willing to obtain an understanding of the VET funding environment;
* Excellent team player;
* Well-developed administrative and technical skills; and
* Communication skills to build and maintain professional relationships with stakeholders.
* Appointment is contingent upon satisfactory National Criminal History Check and a Northern Territory Working with Children check (Ochre Card) being completed and the report received by HIA employee services (Essential)
