About the Job
Responsible for developing product concepts and project specifications, including reference drawing packages, to collaborate with internal design and manufacturing teams to bring the product to life.
Responsible for products including vehicle awnings, fridge slides, batteries and mounting trays, solar panel solutions, shower/awning ranges, and other innovative products.
Collaborate with customer service, marketing, and retail teams to communicate details of new products, updates, develop training documentation and manuals, and assist with product queries.
Provide technical resources and specifications to the content team to support the development of training materials and product documentation.
Skills and Experience
Passion for 4WD camping, outdoors, and automotive applications with strong hands-on mechanical knowledge.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks) for modelling components, assemblies, and simulating manufacturability.
Solid understanding of 3D scanning technologies to capture vehicle geometries for accurate modelling in design software would be beneficial.
Basic understanding of 12V and DC systems would be beneficial for designing products such as batteries, mounting trays and solar panel solutions.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills for cross-departmental collaboration and delivering designs remotely and in person.
A degree in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Design, with expertise in developing concept drawings and technical specifications for product development, is preferred but not required.
Experience in project management would be beneficial to effectively lead and coordinate product development initiatives.
Required
Minimum of 4 years' experience in mechanical product design, preferably in automotive or outdoor equipment sectors, with a senior-level ability to take ownership of projects.
Ability to travel to our Asian office and factories as required, with flexibility to accommodate urgent project needs.
Australian citizenship, permanent residency, or valid work rights for Australia.
