Position Title:Manager Assets and Engineering
Location:Kununurra WA
Contract Duration:2 months possible one month extension
Employment Type:Temporary casual contract (no leave entitlements – casual loading included in rate)
Salary Range:Competitive hourly rate on offer +superannuation

Position Overview
The Manager Assets and Engineering is responsible for leading and coordinating the delivery of efficient and timely asset and capital works management services. This role supports the strategic planning objectives of the Shire and ensures compliance with all asset-related obligations as outlined in the Corporate Business Plan.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead the review and implementation of the Shire's Capital Works Program, Asset Management Plan, Asset Management Policy and Asset Management Strategies, Systems, and Processes
* Oversee the Shire's suite of service level agreements to ensure alignment with business needs and long-term asset lifecycle considerations.
* Provide technical support to the Depot and oversee future planned works performed by Depot staff.
* Coordinate stakeholder input to ensure new assets meet operational, maintenance, and safety requirements.
* Ensure plans and budgets are balanced, resource-aligned, and risks are appropriately managed.
* Maintain and enhance Council's asset management systems, databases, and GIS integration.
* Update asset information post-renewal, replacement, and maintenance activities.
* Facilitate asset condition inspections, revaluations, and useful life forecasts to support financial reporting.
* Report on asset condition and financial forecasts to Executive Management and Council.
* Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
* Provide leadership in service delivery, innovation, and strategic planning.
Skills and Qualifications
Essential:
* Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar role.
* Tertiary qualifications in Civil Engineering or related fields, or equivalent industry experience.
* Additional qualifications in business, asset, or project management.
* Strong organisational and time management skills.
* Effective communication, interpersonal, and report writing abilities.
* Advanced stakeholder management, analytical, and negotiation skills.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, engineering software, and asset management systems (e.g., ROMAN II).
* Demonstrated expertise in engineering construction, planning, and delivery.
* Ability to produce project specifications, budget estimates, and tender documents.
* Experience developing project plans for self-performed and team-delivered works.
* Current unrestricted WA Driver Licence.
* Acceptable National Police Clearance (dated within the last 6 months).
Desirable:
* Experience in Local Government and knowledge of infrastructure assets (e.g., buildings, roads, bridges, drainage, airports).
* Understanding of AAS27, asset valuation, and depreciation.
* Experience in developing asset management plans.
