Overview
This is a great prospect for a Marine or Transport Insurance Lawyer (2–4 PQE) looking to broaden their disputes experience into class actions, international regulatory investigations, and cross-border litigation.
You’ll be joining a nationally integrated, multi-partner team that sits within one of Australia’s leading practices for shipping, offshore energy, ports, aviation, and international trade. The team acts on high-profile litigation, arbitration, and regulatory matters for clients across shipping, logistics, construction, aviation, and natural resources — with a particular focus on marine casualties, liability disputes, and cross-border risk.
The work spans both contentious and non-contentious matters, including collisions, groundings, cargo losses, vessel arrests, charterparty disputes, port incidents, and complex admiralty litigation — as well as risk advisory, contracting, and regulatory compliance.
There’s also growing demand for class actions and government investigations connected to transport, energy, and commodities. This is a rare chance to deepen your technical expertise in marine and trade while expanding into larger-scale, multi-jurisdictional disputes.
You’ll work closely with two highly respected partners — one ranked in the Hall of Fame for maritime law, the other a rising figure in aviation and transport disputes. The team is team-oriented, hands-on, and invested in your progression. There’s a strong learning and development framework, including formal training in international trade and shipping law, and regular access to structured mentoring.
The role is growth-driven and sits within a globally connected disputes team — offering real exposure to international matters, with the added benefit of a highly utilised secondment program.
You’ll have high levels of client contact, flexibility in how you work, and plenty of scope to develop both technical and commercial skills in one of the most specialised and respected teams in the country.
