Action Steel is a family-owned business designing and building high-quality farm sheds across regional Australia. With strong demand, a solid pipeline, and a clear growth plan, we're looking for a hands-on finance professional to own the day-to-day finance operations and support our Chief Financial Officer.
The Role
Key Responsibilities
* Accounts Receivable (shed projects)
* Setting up shed projects/jobs in the system
* Preparing and sending progress claims and milestone invoices
* Allocating customer payments, deposits, and retentions
* Monitoring debtors and following up overdue accounts
* Entering and coding supplier and subcontractor invoices to jobs/cost centres
* Matching to purchase orders, delivery dockets, and approvals
* Preparing weekly/fortnightly payment runs for CFO approval
* Managing supplier queries and creditor aging
* Banking, reconciliations & payroll support
* Bank and credit card reconciliations
* Petty cash / expense card administration
* Collating timesheets and preparing payroll inputs and batches for approval
You'll work closely with the CFO, Sales, Projects, Workshop teams, and play a key role in keeping the numbers clean, current, and reliable.
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
We'd love to hear from you if you:
1. Have 3+ years' experience as a bookkeeper or finance officer
2. Have worked in a project-based environment
3. Aren't afraid of using accounting software and Excel
4. Are accurate, organised, and disciplined with reconciliations and deadlines
5. Enjoy being part of a practical, down-to-earth team supporting regional agriculture
