Aged/Disability care worker - living with client 5 days per week
This is a full‑time Aged/Disability care worker role arranged privately with the family of client, based in Mount Barker, SA.
You will be living with the client 5 days per week, providing comprehensive care and support to help them maintain their independence and quality of life.
All household and living expenses for the 5‑day work pattern are provided (rent, utilities, WIFI, generous streaming services and subscriptions of your choice, groceries, and fuel/transport costs for Mount Barker return journey).
What you'll be doing
Providing personalised daily care and assistance with all activities of daily living, including grooming, bathing, dressing, medications and meal preparation (approximately 5‑7 contact hours per day, remaining time per day passive hours at client's home).
Monitoring the client's health and wellbeing, and reporting any changes or concerns to the appropriate parties.
Engaging the client in meaningful activities, outings to the cinema, and scheduling social interactions to promote their physical, mental, and emotional wellbeing.
Maintaining accurate records and documentation related to the client's care plan and progress.
Collaborating with the client, their family, and other healthcare professionals to ensure a holistic and coordinated approach to care.
About the client
78‑year‑old male, bright and extremely easy‑going, enjoys the cinema, crosswords, catching up with his army mates and spending time with his two grandkids.
Mobility needs:
Client has left side paralysis – mobility isolated to right side (right hand / right leg).
One‑person transfer (pivot transfer – no lifter required).
Client uses a fully electric wheelchair.
Client uses a commode for toileting and showering.
What we're looking for
Mandatory – candidate must be an Australian citizen or a permanent residence visa holder in order to qualify for government‑funded Carers allowance.
Previous professional or lived experience in aged care, disability support, or family caregiving role.
A genuine passion for supporting and empowering older adults or individuals with disabilities.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with the client, his immediate family and social network.
Relevant qualifications, such as a Certificate III in Individual Support or Disability, desirable but not essential.
A positive, patient, and empathetic approach to care.
A current driver's licence desired and/or access to reliable transportation to Mount Barker.
The role is best suited to a middle‑aged/older individual (45‑68) but younger applicants are still encouraged to apply if on‑site living arrangement is suitable and appealing.

People with pets are welcome and encouraged – client loves animals and back half of property is fully fenced.
Police check required; DCSI clearance preferred.
6‑18 month commitment is required. (Our current carer has been with the client for 5 years, previous carer was with the client for 18 months).
