As the Ranger in Charge, you'll have the unique opportunity to lead a dedicated team of five Rangers in managing and preserving the natural beauty of Jourama Falls and the surrounding protected estate. Your role will involve developing and implementing annual work programs focused on recreational and infrastructure maintenance, ensuring the park remains a safe and welcoming space for all visitors.
You'll oversee key projects, including maintaining and upgrading park infrastructure, managing natural and cultural resources, and coordinating fire, weed, and pest control activities. Strong leadership is at the heart of this role, as you'll guide and support your team to achieve shared goals while fostering a culture of collaboration, respect, and inclusion.
In addition to park management, you'll play a vital role in community engagement by building and maintaining productive relationships with stakeholders such as neighbouring landholders, traditional owners, government departments, commercial operators, and community groups. Your work will include responding to visitor enquiries, educating the public on conservation practices, and ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies.
Administrative responsibilities will also feature prominently, including planning, monitoring budgets, reporting, and maintaining records to meet organisational requirements. This is a hands‐on role, where you'll operate and maintain departmental equipment, lead compliance and enforcement activities, and be involved in emergency response as needed.
