The Australian Energy Market Operator (AEMO) is at the heart of Australia's energy transition, operating and maintaining critical systems that keep energy flowing to millions of Australians. Our Digital Division delivers and operates digital capabilities across AEMO, ensuring we meet obligations in all jurisdictions and markets. Within Digital, the Energy Operations – Digital Systems department manages essential power system applications for the Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM) and the South West Interconnected System (SWIS). This role sits in the WEM Operations Solutions team, which is pivotal in supporting WA's energy future.
About The Role
As Product Domain Owner, you will lead the WEM Operations team, acting as the end-to-end custodian for the domain. This is a strategic leadership role where you will:
* Instill a shared product vision and guide the team to deliver value to WA operations.
* Provide strategic input into the future direction of WEM Dispatch applications and services.
* Enable and inspire a multi-disciplinary team to achieve its mission, ensuring alignment with AEMO's overall strategy.
* Manage interdependencies across other product domains and coordinate priorities.
Key Responsibilities
* Stakeholder Engagement: Build strong relationships with WA Operations, Portfolio Delivery, WA Reform Program, and Digital Systems teams to deliver secure, stable solutions.
* Backlog & Work Management: Collaborate with the Scrum Master to prioritise and sequence work, transforming Features and Epics into actionable User Stories.
* Operational Oversight: Manage BAU activities, incident response, and after-hours support while ensuring systems meet SLAs.
* People Leadership: Lead and develop a diverse team, including resource planning, capability uplift, and personal development plans.
* Performance Management: Oversee planning, capacity, and delivery metrics for the domain.
What You'll Bring
* Experience leading Agile delivery teams and managing geographically dispersed teams.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* Proven experience supporting 24x7 technology systems and managing incident, problem, and change processes (ITIL desirable).
* Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Ability to mentor and cross-skill team members.
Education / Professional Certifications
* Degree or tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Engineering.
* Possesses relevant professional certifications or equivalent experience in key technologies and platforms.
