As we continue to grow, so too does our team. We are looking for the right candidate to take on the role of Electrical Engineer. This is a Full-Time role, based in our Port Macquarie Shipyard on the beautiful Hastings River in Port Macquarie, NSW.
Position Overview
The Electrical Engineer reports to the Platform Engineering Lead and is responsible for electrical design development and implementation.
Key Accountabilities :
· Design, develop, and integrate electrical systems for ships, including power distribution.
· Lead and contribute to the engineering team throughout requirements analysis, detailed design, production, and acceptance phases of vessel development.
· Provide technical guidance for bids, tenders, and production, ensuring all engineering outputs support project and operational needs.
· Develop technical solutions for design, risk identification, safety-in-design, testing, and validation of shipboard electrical systems.
· Verify engineering designs for practical applicability within shipyard or production environments.
· Support design implementation from production through to customer acceptance, focusing on operational quality and compliance.
· Create, review, and develop CAD drawings and technical documentation to support project delivery.
· Liaise with customers and participate in internal deliverable review meetings.
· Develop and maintain QA documentation and provide project reports to internal and external stakeholders.
· Promote workplace quality, environmental responsibility, and safety throughout all business and engineering processes.
· Participate in business growth initiatives—mentoring team members, collaborating across departments, and supporting continuous improvement.
· Providing engineering support to facilitate installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and documentation for a variety of marine electrical systems.
Qualifications, Experience and Skills
Essential.
· Tertiary qualifications at degree level in a relevant engineering discipline.
· 5-10 years' experience working for an engineering organization in a relevant industry.
· Experience working in an Engineering Design house, support to bids and project delivery activities.
· Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions, identify work priorities in a constantly changing environment.
· Service-oriented team player with a "make it happen safely" attitude
Desirable.
· A working understanding of Commercial and Defence Marine Service Industry, as well as maintenance, service and Class compliance practices, is highly advantageous
· Chartered Professional Engineering status in relevant discipline.
· Electrical application in a Marine / Maritime setting highly desirable.
· Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of automotive engineering principles, systems, and industry best practices.
· Experience in CANALYZER program
