Mixed Farming Position
A full-time position in a rural setting is available for an individual to work as a farm worker.
The role involves cattle husbandry and stock work, including mustering, moving livestock, providing feed and water, administering treatments, and assisting with calving and general health checks. Skilled use of 2-wheeled motorbikes in challenging paddock terrain is required.
Maintenance of farming infrastructure, such as sheds, yards, gates, and water/irrigation systems, is also part of the job. This includes performing routine maintenance, minor repairs, and basic arc welding for fence and yard repairs.
The position requires operating farm trucks and utility vehicles for transportation of feed, hay, livestock, and general farm supplies between properties and holding yards.
Specialised farm machinery operation is also necessary, including CAT D7 bulldozer for heavy field preparation, vegetation control, and clearing land for pasture improvement and cropping setup, IT28B loader for managing bulk feed supplies, moving large hay/silage bales, and clearing fence/yard areas, MultiOne mini loader for detailed work within confined stockyard spaces and distributing specific supplementary feed rations.
Pasture and feed management involve operating other tractors and implements for general pasture maintenance, weed spraying, and preparing or distributing hay/silage.
To be successful in this role, candidates should have demonstrable hands-on experience and proficiency with the specified machinery, proven competency and safety record operating farm trucks for transportation duties, proven competency and safety record operating 2-wheeled motorbikes for stock work and mustering, minimum 2.5 years of full-time, practical experience as a farm worker in a livestock-focused environment, ability to work unsupervised, and high-level problem-solving skills in a remote environment. A current and valid Australian driver's license is also required.
