About the opportunity
Westgold Resources are on the lookout for proactive, detail-orientedMine Geologist. Reporting to the Senior Geologist at BHO: Beta Hunt, the successful candidate will be responsible for gathering all geological data and working with the broader Mining Team to maximise returns from the underground operations.
Beta Hunt is situated within the central portion of the Norseman-Wiluna greenstone belt in a sequence of mafic/ultramafic and felsic rocks on the southwest flank of the Kambalda Dome. Gold mineralisation occurs mainly in subvertical shear zones in the Lunnon Basalt and is characterised by shear and extensional quartz veining within a halo of biotite/pyrite alteration.
The role includes
Performing accurate detailed underground mapping and sampling
Data validation of diamond drill holes and underground face mapping ensuring high-quality data for modelling.
Daily ROM and stope inspections
Work collaboratively with the wider mining team to optimise ore extraction
Geological logging of diamond drilling core as required or directed by Senior Geologist
Daily tracking and reporting of production
Contribute to the ongoing maintenance of underground sample QAQC to a high standard
Mentoring Junior Geologists
Drill program design and implementation
Stope review and reconciliation
What do I need?
2+ years’ experience in underground mine geology
Tertiary Qualification in Geology
Experience in gold mining
Possesses a current and valid Manual Driver’s Licence
Possesses a National Police Clearance valid within the last 12 months
The ability to pass Westgold’s pre-employment process
