Are you an experienced Intensive Care Specialist looking for an exciting and professionally rewarding opportunity? Tamworth Rural Referral Hospital is seeking a Head of Department for a two-year fixed-term appointment.
You will lead a dynamic and dedicated team of intensivists providing high-quality care in a collegial unit in a thriving regional city with all amenities, regular flights to Sydney and Brisbane, recreational and cultural opportunities, and excellent schools.
Tamworth Intensive Care Unit is a 14-bed unit providing intensive care for patients across the northern half of Hunter New England Health.
We serve a population of 175,000.
The intensive care unit is a Level 5 unit with approximately ventilator bed days per annum.
We admit on average 30 paediatric patients per year, the highest in NSW outside the state's PICUs.
We can invasively ventilate up to 8 patients and provide renal support (CRRT) to 3 patients at a given time.
About Tamworth Hospital: TRRH had a $220 million redevelopment in July.
The redevelopment involved our acute services and delivered a brand-new Intensive Care Unit, increasing from 11 to 16 ICU / HDU beds.
With 288 beds Tamworth Hospital is one of the largest rural referral hospitals in Australia.
Tamworth Hospital is a major trauma referral centre with a 24-hour emergency department.
Most medical and surgical specialties are provided with radiology and pathology services available 24 / 7.

Qualifications
A primary medical degree registrable with AHPRA and Fellowship College of Intensive Care Medicine of Australia and New Zealand, and / or overseas trained specialist pathways.
Evidence of being a medical expert, demonstrated by recent and comprehensive experience in Intensive Care Medicine.
Evidence of being a scholar, maintaining medical professional development and the ability to assist other staff, including trainees in the acquisition and development of knowledge.
Evidence of being a skilled communicator, including both oral and written skills, communicating with patients, students, other health professionals and the public.
Evidence of being a collaborator, including the ability to network and operate within an interdisciplinary framework and to work with other stakeholders in a variety of settings.
Evidence of being a manager, including ability to be flexible and cope with a changing health system, past leadership and management experience and previous safety and quality improvement activities.
Evidence of being a professional, including continued professional development, peer review and other forms of clinical governance.
Evidence of being an advocate, including contributions to improving individual and societal health.
