Job Overview
We are seeking a senior communications specialist to join our strategic team. As a key member, you will contribute to public affairs activities and help shape strategies that maintain and enhance the organization's position with the community and stakeholders.
Main Responsibilities
* Manage traditional and social media content and engagement to improve the connection between the organization and the community.
* Monitor community sentiment and contribute to improving the organization's position with the community and stakeholders.
* Develop and implement effective communications strategies to engage with the community and stakeholders.
* Collaborate with other teams to ensure consistent messaging and branding across all channels.
* Provide written and verbal communication skills to translate complex information into publicly accessible content.
Requirements
* Tertiary qualifications in journalism, communications, public relations or similar field along with experience in a similar role.
* Demonstrated communications capability and the ability to relate well to the public, elected members, media, management and staff.
* Good knowledge of public affairs, media communications and stakeholder engagement disciplines.
* Strong working knowledge of social media and digital platforms.
* Ability to manage media releases and responses.
