Senior Legal Counsel / Head of Procurement 7 + Years PQE
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Commercial Lawyer to join our team on a permanent basis within their Sydney or Canberra office, working with a prestigious government agency providing financial solutions to projects domestically and internationally.
This role reports into the Deputy General Counsel and will lead the procurement function and provide legal support on commercial, procurement, IT contracts, and service agreements.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and Implement a Procurement Framework Aligned with Government Legislative Requirements.
* Provide Professional Procurement Advice and Support for Complex and High-Risk Procurements and Contract Management Issues.
* Oversee Procurement Planning, Ensuring Efficiency, Transparency, and Value for Money.
* Implement and Manage Assurance Mechanisms Ensuring Compliance that Aligns with Procurement Legislative Requirements.
* Assess and Manage Legal Risks Associated with Supplier Relationships, Including Vendor Agreements.
* Deliver Training Programs to Enhance Understanding of Legal Obligations and Risk Management.
Requirements
The Ideal Candidate Will Have at Least 7 Years' Experience Within a Government Environment or from a Mid-Top Tier Law Firm. In Addition, You Will Have:
* Strong Experience in Procurement Ideally in a Government Context.
* Excellent Skills in Drafting and Negotiating General Commercial Agreements, Contracts.
