Overview
Prepare and serve a variety of coffee beverages, including espresso, lattes, cappuccinos, and other drinks. Assist in food preparation, such as preparing sandwiches, salads, snacks, and light meals, ensuring all items meet the café's quality standards. Operate café equipment, such as coffee machines, grinders, blenders, and ovens, efficiently and safely. Maintain cleanliness of the café, including the kitchen, counter, seating areas, and restroom facilities. Ensure stock is replenished and inventory is maintained to avoid shortages. Provide excellent customer service, greeting guests, taking orders, and resolving any issues that arise. Assist with cash handling, operating the point of sale (POS) system, and processing payments accurately. Manage customer inquiries and feedback in a professional and friendly manner. Greet customers warmly, take orders, and ensure their needs are met in a timely and friendly manner. Maintain a clean and welcoming atmosphere for customers, keeping all areas tidy and organized. Act as a point of contact for customer complaints or special requests, ensuring customer satisfaction is always prioritized. Support the team in creating a positive café environment that fosters customer loyalty and encourages repeat visits.
Administrative and Procedural Support
- Help maintain accurate records of stock, deliveries, and inventory.
- Ensure all procedural documentation (such as cash handling, opening/closing checklists, etc.) is completed properly.
- Assist with the café’s opening and closing duties, including setting up, cleaning, and securing the premises.
- Help with monthly or weekly inventory checks, as needed, in coordination with the Team Leader.
Required Qualifications
- Previous experience working in a café or hospitality workplace, preferably as a barista or café allrounder.
- Strong customer service skills with a friendly, approachable demeanour.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while multitasking.
- Strong communication skills and a team-oriented attitude.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- A passion for coffee, food service, and creating a positive experience for customers.
- Ability to work Monday to Friday and occasional Saturday
Preferred Skills
- Knowledge of health and safety standards, food handling procedures, and hygiene regulations.
- Experience in inventory management and ordering supplies.
- Familiarity with POS systems and cash handling procedures.
- First aid certification (or willingness to obtain one)
Working Conditions
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting and carrying.
- Ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment while maintaining composure.
