Meson is hiring a Technical Lead to own and scale our backend systems and integration infrastructure.
We operate across real estate, CRM automation, contact centre technology, and omni-channel communications. Our backend is currently built on Xano, and we've developed a custom omni-channel system that connects businesses to their customers across voice, SMS, WhatsApp, email, and multiple CRM platforms.
We're looking for a hands‐on technical leader who can build, improve, and scale this infrastructure from our South Yarra office.
The Role
As Technical Lead – Backend & Integrations, you will:
* Own and manage backend logic and system architecture (currently built in Xano)
* Maintain and evolve our custom omni-channel communication platform
* Build and manage integrations with third‐party systems
* Work alongside consultants and external developers
* Improve performance, structure, and scalability across our stack
* Help shape technical direction as we grow
This is a hands‐on engineering role. You will be building, integrating, troubleshooting, and optimising — not just delegating.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage and improve backend workflows and business logic
* Structure scalable and maintainable data architecture
* Ensure system performance, reliability, and security
* Refactor and optimise existing infrastructure
Integrations
Build and maintain integrations with:
* WhatsApp
* REST APIs
* HubSpot
* Pipedrive
* Other CRM and SaaS platforms
You must be comfortable working with APIs, webhooks, JSON, authentication flows, and third‐party integrations.
* Maintain and improve messaging orchestration logic
* Ensure reliable communication flows across systems
* Troubleshoot sync and integration issues
Data & Reporting
* Structure backend data for reporting
* Support dashboard and data visualisation outputs
* Improve analytics and reporting visibility
* Work closely with leadership and product direction
* Coordinate with consultants and future developers
* Contribute to documentation and system standards
What We're Looking For
* 5+ years backend or full‐stack development experience
* Experience with Node.js
* Familiarity with React
* Comfortable with REST APIs, webhooks, JSON, and OAuth
* Experience working with SaaS or CRM systems
* Experience in fast‐paced or startup‐style environments
* Strong ownership mindset and problem‐solving ability
Bonus:
* Experience with Xano or low‐code backend systems
* Experience with Twilio or messaging platforms
* Experience with data visualisation tools
